My study tips!

Hey guys!
I'm back! So today, let's explore some study tips! (Some of these may work for you as it did for me!)

1. Put aside all distractions!
For me, I usually study without my phone or without my computer, especially for big exams such as finals. Sometimes (most of the time), I do turn off my wifi on both my computer and my phone, so I won't receive messages as well as things like snapchat and instagram notifications. This really works for me to help study more efficiently.

2. Drink more water!
I really really love drinking water. And water sometimes does help me to calm down and it does keep me really hydrated, preventing me from getting sick during exam period.

3. Always have your notes prepared and your own study notes prepared beforehand.
AKA start preparation early!
This helps because cramming examination revision stuff sucks big time!
4. Sleep earlier
Sleeping earlier does help you tons when you have content heavy examinations that require a lot of memorisation. It helps to retain some memory and keeps you more well rested. You may also avoid the flu bug!

5. Take effective breaks
The occasional breaks make you more productive!
6. Use flash cards
Flash card summarises your learning and can help you study. Moreover, flash cards are usually quite small (that is if you don't use the A5 type of flashcards) so you can flip through your flashcards when you're on the bus on the way to school, on the train back home or on the cab out to meet some friends!

7. Try to colour code
Colour coding is a brilliant way to retain some memory! For example, in history, you  may use red to represent dates, blue to represent the event and green to represent historical debates! Keep the same colour throughout the subject to represent the same thing!

8. Use mind maps!
Mind maps help you to seek out your train of thoughts and will also help you to identify areas in your studies you have problems with! It also saves you a lot of time during revision so that you don't have to go through you thick textbook!

Thats it for this post guys! Hope this helps you! These are my top study tips! I've recently started using flashcards and i have to say, flashcards really do help with your learning! I've also learnt that procrastination is pretty much a bad habit that all of us have. This prevents us from scoring high, especially in content heavy papers as I'm pretty sure, most of us cram content heavy papers the night before (like what I used to do). Also, do try to colour code! You don't have to use tons of colours to do your notes, but use sufficient colours so that you understand!

Always, always, always check the examination schedule to ensure that you have enough time to make your own set of study notes as well as to ensure that you have sufficient time to start revising!

Cheers!

Reasons why you should join the studygram community now!!!!

Hello!
So... I stumbled onto the studygram community earlier this year. I felt a calling and was attracted to the idea of owning a studygram. Posts from people such as @emmastudies was very inspiring to me and I finally got around to creating my studygram, under the username @crystalstudies_ in early June.

I've been on the studygram community (on instagram) for a while now and here are some advantages I've gained from joining the studygram community!

1. It is inspiring
That is for sure. Seeing others work hard, achieve things and actually studying, does inspire me to work harder. Moreover, having a studygram, can help yuou improve your grades. You study to get posts to post onto instagram. This in turn motivates you to do your work and will, eventually, improve your grades.

2. You can make new friends
Over the past few months, I've met people of different cultures, of different curriculums, and many other factors included. I for one, take the ibdp (international baccalaureate diploma programme) and I have met some who take the GCSE A level, GCSE O level, IGCSE and many more.

3. Learn from others and help others learn!
This is a great opportunity for you to learn from others! Some of the friends I've met on the small, tiny studygram community have formed different types of group chats. I have joined the one on kakao talk as well as the one on instagram. We exchange study tips, resources and which stationery we prefer. (we gush over stationery a lot too)

4. You can document your academic journey!
By posting your things online onto instagram for others to share, you can not only look back and remember what you've done over the years, you can also use your studygram as an online study diary. I've documented some of what we do as ibdp students in my school, so can you!

5. Its really easy to upkeep your account!
Honestly, it doesn't take much to keep your account updated. Like I've said in the first reason why I love the studygram community, you study, to have something to post onto your account! Not only that, all it takes for you to start up your studygram is just a notebook, or some flashcards (whichever your prefer) and some pens of your choice!

Remember: you do not require to have those crazy cool pens/notebooks! All you need is: studying!

All in all, I really really really love the studygram community! It helps me feel motivated to study and I can find friends who can relate to me!
Let me know down in the comments section if you have a studygram, new to studygram or planning to start a studygram! I'm always down for a chat!

Stay tuned for more posts!
